The Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has made significant traffic improvements on several major roads in Dubai, including Al Khail Road and Ras Al Khor Road, this year. These upgrades have increased vehicle capacity and significantly reduced traffic congestion and travel times.

Major Upgrades:

1. Widening of Exit 55 to Al Rebat Street-
The RTA has completed improvements on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311), including the expansion of Exit 55 leading to Al Rebat Street. A new lane has been added, bringing the total number of lanes to three. This allows drivers to reach Business Bay Crossing from Mirdif in just four minutes, reducing travel time by 60%.

2. Al Khail Road Expansion-
Al Khail Road has been widened over 600 meters at Al Jaddaf by adding a new lane to increase traffic flow towards Deira. Additionally, the entrance to Business Bay has been expanded by adding a 435-meter lane. These changes have increased the number of lanes to six, boosting the road’s capacity by about 2,000 vehicles per hour and reducing congestion by 25%.

3. Ras Al Khor Road Widening-
The expansion of Ras Al Khor Road, from the Bu Kadra intersection to the Al Khail Road intersection, covers a three-kilometer stretch. The number of lanes has been increased from three to four in both directions, raising the intake of vehicles from 6,000 to 8,000 per hour. This upgrade reduces travel times by up to 33% during peak periods.

4. Algeria Street Transformation-
Earlier this year, the RTA completed major improvements in the Muhaisnah and Al Mizhar neighborhoods. The development stretches two kilometers from the intersection of Algeria Street and Al Khawaneej Street (South) to the intersection of Tunis Street (North) at Al Muhaisnah 1 and Al Mizhar 1. Algeria Street has been widened from two to three lanes in each direction, increasing the road’s capacity from 6,000 to 9,000 vehicles per hour.

These comprehensive upgrades by the RTA have significantly enhanced traffic flow and reduced congestion on some of Dubai’s busiest roads, making commutes faster and more efficient for drivers.
