Police inspectors in Ajman have launched a crackdown on cigarette shops to address illegal practices. Key violations being targeted include selling tobacco products and e-cigarettes without a license and providing these items to minors under 18.
Authorities will also check compliance with additional rules, such as displaying warning signs to prevent minors’ entry and requiring shopkeepers to verify buyers’ ages with an ID. Residents are encouraged to report any vendors selling vapes, cigarettes, and other tobacco products without proper permits.
Colonel Ahmed Saeed Al Naeemi, Director of the Department of Investigations and Criminal Investigations emphasized that the initiative aims not only to identify illegal sellers but also to promote smoking cessation and raise awareness of health risks, particularly those associated with e-cigarettes.
He cautioned against selling electronic cigarettes or other tobacco products in unlicensed shops and urged reporting of such illegal activities. Ajman Police are committed to safeguarding community health and safety.
In addition, the police have launched a social media campaign titled “Your life is cleaner without smoking” to further spread their message and engage more people in the initiative.
