Dubai’s delivery riders will soon benefit from air-to-water dispensers capable of generating around 100 litres of drinking water per day. This initiative, launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Group, will initially install three dispensers at delivery rider rest areas. The technology uses atmospheric humidity at temperatures of 30ºC and 65% humidity to produce safe drinking water.
This project is part of RTA’s broader programme to enhance facilities for delivery riders, aiming to improve their well-being and safety. Several rest areas have already been completed, with more scheduled for construction in three phases.
Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s licensing agency, stated, “This partnership highlights RTA’s dedication to collaborating with the private sector to ensure the safety and convenience of delivery bike drivers, contributing to a safer transport system for all residents and visitors in Dubai. It also reflects Majid Al Futtaim Group’s commitment to social responsibility. This sustainable solution not only provides safe drinking water but also helps reduce the environmental footprint.”
Majid Al Futtaim’s contribution is essential for the health and well-being of delivery drivers who work long hours outdoors. The advanced technology of the dispensers extracts humidity from the air, purifies it, and fills bottles with clean water.
Situated at three delivery driver rest points, these machines will keep workers cool and hydrated during the summer while also benefiting the environment. This initiative underscores the commitment of both RTA and MAF Group to improving working conditions and promoting sustainability in Dubai.
