RAK Hospital, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP-RAK), has launched the third edition of the RAK Diabetes Challenge, now open for registration. The three-month contest, which is free and open to all residents aged 18 and above, offers an opportunity to win cash prizes, with the top male and female participants each receiving Dh5,000. Second and third place winners will be awarded Dh3,000 and Dh2,000, respectively.

Registration for the challenge is available online from August 5 to 10, with walk-in registration at RAK Hospital from 9th  to 11th August, between 9 am and 4:30 pm. The challenge is designed for individuals with an HbA1C level of 5.7 or higher, providing them with a chance to embark on a transformative health journey. Participants can choose to join either the physical or virtual categories.

As part of the challenge, participants can undergo free BMI and HbA1C tests at the RAK Hospital facility. Additionally, lifestyle evaluation tests are offered online upon registration. For those opting for the virtual category, BMI and HbA1C tests can be conducted at any medical clinic of their choice, though the cost will be at their own expense.

Throughout the challenge, participants will receive weekly health tips and access to webinars focused on diabetes management. These resources aim to educate and support participants in making sustainable lifestyle changes. To be eligible for the cash prizes, participants must provide proof of their BMI and HbA1C results from the beginning and end of the challenge, with the most improved individuals emerging as the winners.

Dr. Raza Siddiqui, Executive Director of RAK Hospital, emphasized the importance of tackling diabetes, noting, “Diabetes is a gateway to numerous life-threatening diseases, including heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, and nerve damage. By effectively reducing the burden of diabetes, we not only improve individual health outcomes but also foster a healthier society, decrease healthcare costs, and enhance overall quality of life, contributing to a stronger, more resilient nation.”
