Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has inaugurated two significant bridges on Al Khail Road at Zabeel and Al Quoz 1, facilitating traffic towards Jebel Ali as part of the Al Khail Road Development Project. These bridges span a total of 1,350 meters and can accommodate approximately 8,000 vehicles per hour combined.

The RTA also reported that the Al Khail Road Development Project is now 80% complete. The project includes the construction of bridges totalling 3,300 meters and the expansion of lanes across a stretch of 6,820 meters.

The project spans across seven key areas along Al Khail Road: Al Jaddaf, Business Bay, Zabeel, Meydan, Al Quoz 1, Ghadir Al Tair, and Jumeirah Village Circle. The primary goals are to cut travel time by 30%, boost the capacity of current intersections and bridges by 19,600 vehicles per hour, and improve overall traffic efficiency on Al Khail Road. Additional objectives include reducing traffic at flyovers and ensuring a smooth, continuous flow of vehicles.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, noted that this project is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

Al Tayer highlighted the specifics of the newly opened bridges, stating, “The first bridge opened is located at Zabeel. It connects traffic from Zabeel Palace Street and Oud Metha Street to Al Khail Road towards Jebel Ali. This 700-metre-long bridge has three lanes and a capacity of 4,800 vehicles per hour. The second bridge opened is located at Al Quoz 1. It links traffic from Al Meydan Street to Al Khail Road towards Jebel Ali. This two-lane bridge extends 650 metres and has a capacity of 3,200 vehicles per hour,”
