Dubai Culture has revealed the invitation for the 13th Sikka Art & Design Festival happening at Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood from January 31 to February 9, 2025. The event is organized with the support of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Chairperson of Dubai Culture.
Dubai Culture encourages Emirati and UAE & GCC-based artists, creatives, and designers to display their various works in visual arts, painting, sculpture, photography, design, murals, multimedia, culinary arts, and additional mediums. The event will include hands-on workshops, live music and film presentations, speeches, and group conversations to enhance the community’s cultural scene and connect with worldwide artistic movements.
The deadline for submitting applications is October 8, 2024, starting from August 8. After the submission period ends, a panel of specialists and creatives will evaluate entries to choose pieces for the festival, which is a component of the Sikka Platform. The open call welcomes established and emerging artists in the UAE and GCC, working individually or in groups.
Candidates are urged to showcase creative concepts that mirror their individual viewpoints and the dynamic nature of the community’s art culture. Entries must be made from sustainable materials and must be original, recent pieces that have not been shown at any other festivals or events before. You can find information and the application form on the Dubai Culture website.
Over 162,000 visitors attended the last festival, and they discovered the artistic exhibits in the Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood. The event included shows, classes, and talks, with more than 500 artists showcasing approximately 300 pieces in 14 different locations.
