The Indian passport services on the ‘Passport Seva Portal’ will be unavailable for five days due to technical maintenance. According to a notice on the official website, services will be suspended from 6:30 pm (UTC+4)‎ on Thursday, 29th August, until 4:30 am (UTC+4)‎ on Monday 2nd September. This outage will affect passport issuance, Emergency Certificates, and Police Clearance Certificates.

The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi confirmed that applicants with appointments at the BLS International outsourced service provider will be affected. Notices posted at BLS Centres stated: “Passport Seva Portal is temporarily under maintenance. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

However, a spokesperson from the Indian Embassy clarified that applicants who have already filled out their applications online can still submit them to BLS during the maintenance period. Nonetheless, processing of these applications will only resume on Monday. Vinay Nambiar, country manager at BLS International Services, added that email notifications will be sent to all applicants with bookings, as they received booking confirmations via email.

This temporary suspension aims to improve the system’s efficiency and service quality, but it may cause inconvenience to applicants during the maintenance period.
