The Federal Traffic Council has launched the “Accident-Free Day” initiative for 2024, urging motorists to pledge online to avoid accidents and adhere to traffic regulations on Monday, August 26.
Drivers who comply with traffic laws and avoid accidents will have four black traffic points deducted. To participate, motorists must sign the traffic pledge available on the Ministry’s website. This initiative will remain valid for two weeks following August 26.
Coinciding with the start of the new school year, the campaign aims to ensure a safe first day back for students as school buses return to the streets. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance road safety by promoting responsible driving practices, requiring cooperation from both drivers and pedestrians.
Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, chairman of the Federal Traffic Council at the Ministry of Interior, emphasized that the campaign focuses on educating drivers about vehicle safety, adhering to speed limits near schools, avoiding distractions such as mobile phone use while driving, and maintaining proper lane discipline and safe distances.
