Citizens and Residents of Dubai have the opportunity to shape an upcoming park at Nad Al Hamar 3. At a recent workshop, attendees provided several inputs about what should be included, such as an interactive play area, a system to convert humidity into water for plants, and a shaded cycling track.

The workshop was part of the launch of the Dubai Urban Design Platform, an AI-powered tool that allows residents to see how urban spaces can be transformed. This initiative was directed by Dubai Crown Prince His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Over 20 people of various ages attended the workshop, which was divided into two groups. Each group discussed different aspects that could be included in the park. Participants first wrote down their ideas on sticky notes and then engaged in a detailed discussion. Some of the proposed ideas included utilizing solar panels, setting up an animal shelter, and installing features like a gym, cycling track, padel court, and water fountain. Moderators used Urbanist to visually demonstrate how each feature would look in the park.

Noora Abdullah Ashoor, a 17-year-old high school student, described the workshop as a novel experience. She shared her creative ideas, stating, “The play area would have a little water fountain for the little ones to experience, and music would be played through speakers on the floor. This would be very engaging for them. Additionally, the floor will be painted in light colours so that it doesn’t absorb too much heat and the playground won’t have a faded look after being exposed to harsh sunlight.”
