The Dubai Metro is turning 15, and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai is gearing up to celebrate its anniversary under the theme “15 Years on Track.” The event will be filled with fun activities, surprises, and cool initiatives that aim to bring joy to everyone.
The Dubai Metro started running on September 9, 2009, and this year’s celebration has received support from sponsors like Emirates Post. They’ll be releasing limited edition postage stamps dedicated to the occasion, and a special edition ‘nol’ transport card by the RTA, which will have an exclusive design. They’ll also have some Metro-related souvenir products available.
From September 21 to 27, you can catch some awesome musical performances at the Dubai Metro stations as part of the fourth Dubai Metro Music Festival, organized by Brand Dubai. You’ll get to hear live performances by Emirati and international musicians.
In recognition of the anniversary, they’re doing special things for “Metro babies” born on September 9, 2009, like offering academic sponsorships for higher education. They’re also planning a celebration at Legoland Dubai on September 21, 2024, for Metro babies born between 2009 and 2023.
There will also be musical performances at the Metro stations for UAE residents, and 5,000 individuals can win discounted Nol cards by finding special codes on limited-edition Metro-shaped ice cream sticks. You can also get your hands on limited-edition Metro-related souvenirs, postage stamps, and special Nol cards featuring a design by Lego Dubai.
