The sixth Dubai Labour Sports Tournament will begin on September 15, featuring an expanded range of 12 sports disciplines across the emirate. This year’s event sees a significant boost in tournaments for working women, with badminton, yoga, and the thrash ball championship added to the schedule. Winners from each tournament will later compete in a Champions League.

With the theme “Making them happy is our goal,” more than 46,000 workers from 270 companies, both male and female, are expected to take part. The tournament, organized by the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) in partnership with the Permanent Committee of Labour Affairs in Dubai, Dubai Police, and other authorities, will run until February 23, 2025. Events will be held at ten different labour housing locations throughout Dubai, including sports like football, volleyball, and cricket.

At the announcement of the sixth edition, Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the DSC, emphasized the importance of this initiative for Dubai’s labour communities. “The Dubai Labour Sports Tournament is a joint initiative held under the slogan ‘Making them happy is our goal.’ We ensure that the competition program includes sports that cater to the diverse cultures, abilities, and hobbies of workers from various nationalities, promoting happiness and enthusiasm.”

The tournament’s growth in both participants and sports disciplines reflects the success of Dubai’s plan to make the city one of the happiest and safest in the world. By providing an inclusive and joyful environment, the event fosters community engagement and celebrates the hard work of Dubai’s labour force.
