Meet 17-year-old Saksham Uboweja, a student at GEMS Modern Academy, who is making a difference with his initiative, Cygfix. Concerned about the often-overlooked issue of cigarette butt pollution, Saksham decided to found Cygfix on 5th August 2023, to address this environmental challenge through impactful awareness campaigns, community cleanups, and innovative recycling strategies, with the support of his parents, community members, and classmates.
Despite their small size, cigarette butts pose a significant environmental threat. “There are around 4.5 trillion cigarette butts littered globally. They’re so tiny that they easily go unnoticed, leading many to overlook them as serious litter,” Saksham explained.
