5 things we loved about Shah Rukh Khan at Locarno

Shah Rukh Khan in 77th Locarno Film Festival
Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the 77th Locarno Film Festival, with the Pardo Alla Carriera award, in Switzerland, however his speech has gone viral due to its witty yet humble nature. Here are five iconic moments we loved from SRK’s speech at Locarno:

  1. His Introduction– While his acceptance speech from the festival has gone viral overall, the main highlight was his cheeky yet humorous introduction, where he said, “For those who don’t know me, leave, Google me, and then come back.” He then humbly said, “I am Shah Rukh Khan, I work in Indian film, mostly Hindi.”

  1. The Humble Side– While all jokes apart he also gave an inspiring speech on being humble despite such honorary accolades, stating, “I wear stardom like a T-shirt, not like a tuxedo. It’s not important, and it’s there. I’m careless about it, and it’s very nice, and I hope it remains.” He also added that stardom is a byproduct of his work, not his ultimate goal.

  1. His Hilarious Comparison of Switzerland to India– while he expressed his delight at being in Locarno, describing it as beautiful, cultural, and artistic, he also mentioned it being extremely hot city with so many people crammed into a small square while visibly sweating from the weather. He hilariously added, “It’s just like being home in India.”

  1. Stanning South Indian films– The actor, who often works with South Indian technicians in his Hindi films, preached that the South cinema is fantastic both cinematically and technically, stating, “After working with Mani Ratnam sir in Dil Se, I wanted to work in the ‘South’ genre film. It wasn’t enough that I worked with a South Indian director.” He also mentions that “some of the best storytelling comes from the South of India.”

  1. Him Singing– Lastly, the actor also sang his iconic song ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ at the festival with his fans that quickly went viral, sparking excitement among fans and audiences worldwide. We have attached a snippet below for you to enjoy
