A new reservoir in Lusaily, capable of storing 60 million gallons (272.7 million litres) of water, has been integrated into Dubai’s water network. The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) allocated Dh 157.4 million for this project.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, outlined their ambitious plans: “We aim to increase Dubai’s water storage capacity to 1,121.3 million gallons by 2025.” He emphasized DEWA’s commitment to meeting escalating water demands through advanced infrastructure, innovation, and strategic planning.

Al Tayer further explained, “By expanding our network with new reservoirs like the reinforced concrete structure in Lusaily, alongside existing facilities such as the adjacent 120 MIG desalinated water reservoir, we enhance water distribution efficiency across Dubai. This initiative aligns with Dubai’s sustainable development objectives, bolstering the reliability and performance of our water systems.”

Recently, DEWA also completed another significant project, commissioning a 120M gallon reservoir in Enkhali and integrating it into the city’s water grid. These efforts underscore DEWA’s proactive approach to ensure water security and support sustainable growth in Dubai.
