Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) is making swift progress on what will soon be the UAE’s largest aluminium recycling facility, with construction already 50% complete—and impressively, 42 days ahead of schedule.

Located in Al Taweelah, right next to EGA’s current smelter, the new plant will have the capacity to process 170,000 tonnes of scrap aluminium annually. Once operational, it will transform both post-consumer and pre-consumer scrap into high-quality, low-carbon aluminium billets branded as RevivAL.

With over 1.2 million safe work hours logged and no lost-time incidents, the project is not only ahead of schedule but also a model for industrial safety. The plant’s centrepiece—the UAE’s largest aluminium furnace, capable of melting 17 tonnes per hour—is on track to be installed by June.

This development aligns with EGA’s broader sustainability goals. Currently, much of the UAE’s aluminium scrap is sent overseas for processing. Once the plant is up and running in the first half of 2026, that loop will close locally, marking a significant shift toward circular manufacturing.

“Recycling is a global growth driver for aluminium,” said EGA CEO Abdulnasser Bin Kalban. “This plant allows us to expand our low-carbon metal offerings and is a milestone for the ‘Make it in the Emirates’ initiative.”

EGA is also growing its global recycling footprint, recently acquiring Germany’s Leichtmetall and U.S.-based Spectro Alloys to bolster its international capabilities.

With global demand for recycled aluminum expected to double by 2040, EGA is positioning itself—and the UAE—at the forefront of sustainable metal production.
