IIT Delhi has inaugurated its first international campus in Abu Dhabi, marking a major milestone in its global expansion. Located in the Abu Dhabi University district, the campus is equipped with high-tech and innovative facilities to support advanced research and innovation. This move aligns with IIT Delhi’s strategy to extend its world-renowned STEM education and research beyond India, while also supporting the UAE’s goals of fostering innovation and enhancing its educational offerings.
The new campus will offer a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including specialized courses in artificial intelligence, data science, and sustainable engineering. These programs are tailored to meet local and regional needs, with a focus on addressing global challenges. The Abu Dhabi facility is also set to serve as a hub for collaborative research, tapping into the UAE’s focus on technological advancement and smart city development.
This initiative is expected to attract students and researchers from around the world, further enhancing IIT Delhi’s global footprint. The partnership with UAE institutions will also strengthen the region’s academic and technological landscape, contributing to its innovation-driven growth.
During the inauguration, Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed attended the event, highlighting the significance of this collaboration. The first batch of 52 students has been enrolled in BTech programs in Computer Science and Energy Engineering, marking the beginning of this exciting new chapter for IIT Delhi in the Middle East.
