When roads are congested with traffic, taking the metro can often get you to work faster. The service, called ‘Park and Ride,’ enables commuters to park their cars for free as long as they travel on the metro.
Each station has multi-storey parking lots with thousands of spaces and pedestrian walkways that directly connect the parking lot to the metro station. The car parks are open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
These metro stations are:
1. Centrepoint Metro Station on the Red line
2. Jebel Ali Metro Station on the Red line
3. Etisalat by e& Metro Station on the Green line
If you do not plan on using the metro, you can still use these car parks at a rate of about Dhs10 per hour with maximum Dhs50 per day. However, you must exit the car park within 60 minutes of your last Nol card use on the Dubai Metro, or parking fees will apply.
In order to get free parking, you would need to use your Nol card.
1. Scan your Nol card at the parking entrance on the machine reader.
2. Use the same Nol card to travel on the Metro. This will automatically validate your parking.
3. When you return, use the same Nol card to scan at the parking exit gate to leave the parking lot.
If you don’t have a Nol card, you can purchase a Red Nol ticket, and use it in a similar fashion.
Please note:
1. If you lose your Nol card, a Dhs152 fine will apply.
2. Cars not collected after 48 hours may be impounded.
3. A fine of Dhs100 per day (up to Dhs1,000) will be charged for cars parked for more than 24 hours.
