The UAE is launching a program as part of the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Women, Peace, and Security initiative, aimed at preparing female peacekeepers for global service. The program includes specialized training in artificial intelligence (AI) in partnership with Khalifa University of Science and Technology. This training is crucial for empowering women in military and peacekeeping roles and will run until the end of September.
The initiative is a collaboration between the General Women’s Union, the Ministry of Defence, and the UN Women Liaison Office for the GCC. Noura Al Suwaidi, the Secretary-General of the GWU, emphasized the vision of Sheikha Fatima, the Mother of the Nation, to empower women locally and globally.
The AI training sessions are meticulously designed to provide participants with comprehensive insights into the responsible and effective utilization of advanced technologies. The goal is to equip them with the necessary skills to promote digital literacy and social responsibility within their communities.
This comes at a significant time, as the UN General Assembly recently adopted its first resolution on artificial intelligence. The resolution emphasizes the need for AI to benefit all nations while respecting human rights and ensuring safety, security, and trustworthiness. This resolution, sponsored by 123 states and supported by all 193 UN member nations, demonstrates a global commitment to leveraging AI for the greater good.
