The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department’s Forensic and Electronic Sciences Centre has achieved a significant milestone by receiving the international accreditation certificate from the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) for its Forensic Medicine Department. This accreditation makes the centre the first in the Middle East to earn this recognition and only the third worldwide outside the United States, following similar recognitions in Canada and Singapore.
Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Under-Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, underscored the importance of this achievement, emphasizing that it aligns with the UAE leadership’s vision of developing a cutting-edge judicial system. He highlighted that this accreditation is a testament to the department’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards in forensic medicine and reflects the ongoing efforts to enhance the global competitiveness and leadership of Abu Dhabi’s judicial system.
Counsellor Al Abri pointed out that this accreditation is a remarkable accomplishment for the region, showcasing its leadership in providing top-tier forensic services in accordance with internationally recognized standards. He also noted that the department is continuously advancing by staying updated with the latest innovations in forensic examinations, which plays a crucial role in the progress of criminal justice.
In addition to this new accreditation, Counsellor Al Abri mentioned that the Centre for Forensic and Electronic Sciences already holds accreditations in criminal examinations and electronic evidence examinations. Furthermore, the chemical laboratory within the center has successfully renewed its accreditation for a second session, following its initial certification in 2019 for its expertise in examining narcotics, toxins, and seized items. This renewal reinforces the centre’s position as a leader in forensic sciences, both regionally and globally.
