Indian expats in the UAE kicked off celebrations for India’s 78th Independence Day with a community blood donation drive. Yatin Patel, Deputy Consul General of India in Dubai, joined over 130 donors in the ‘Mega Blood Donation Campaign’ organized by the Indian Consulate in Dubai. This annual event, held to commemorate India’s Independence Day on August 15, was conducted in partnership with FOI Events.

In the lead-up to the Independence Day celebrations, the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi hosted an Indian art workshop. This included master classes by renowned traditional Indian artists, with the best works of the participants set to be showcased during the official Independence Day celebrations on Thursday.

On the Independence Day itself, both the Indian Consulate in Dubai and the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi will host official flag-hoisting ceremonies. Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Sunjay Sudhir, will raise the national flag at the Embassy in Abu Dhabi at 7:30 a.m., while Consul General of India in Dubai, Satish Kumar Sivan, will unfurl the tricolor at the Consulate in Dubai at 7:00 a.m.

Both ceremonies will include readings of excerpts from Indian President Droupadi Murmu’s Independence Day address to the nation, followed by cultural programs at both locations. Additionally, the Embassy in Abu Dhabi will mark the occasion with a tree plantation ceremony.
