A new women-only beach has been announced in Sharjah, following the orders of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. This 500-meter beach, located in the Lulu’iya area of Khorfakkan, will offer complete privacy for women and will feature a service building to cater to the women.
Additionally, the Sharjah Ruler has instructed the construction of a pedestrian bridge to connect Al Bardi 6 and Al Batha areas in Khorfakkan city. Sharjah already has a women-only beach at the Sharjah Ladies Club, and in 2023, Sheikh Dr. Sultan announced the creation of similar beaches in Kalba and Al Hamariya.
In May 2024, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, launched the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, which includes setting aside new beaches exclusively for women.
Eng. Ali Bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Department of Public Works in Sharjah, mentioned that Sheikh Sultan selected the Lulu’iya area for its secluded location, away from public roads. The beach will have facilities and services for women and children, such as bathing and exercise areas, a cafeteria, a prayer room, a clinic, umbrellas, and a rest area.
The Department plans to begin construction soon, expecting to complete the project within eight months to a year. They are also considering the installation of entrances and exits to ensure complete privacy and the provision of dedicated parking for women’s vehicles, in line with His Highness’s directives.
