Meta Platforms, Inc. and EssilorLuxottica have officially launched the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in the UAE, debuting at an exclusive event on May 7 at Gitano Beach Club. Available from May 12 across Ray-Ban stores and partner opticians, the innovative eyewear blends cutting-edge technology with classic Ray-Ban style.

The Ray-Ban Meta collection offers hands-free photo and video capture, discreet open-ear audio, and access to Meta AI for real-time information, translations, and voice-activated tasks. With built-in microphones and open-ear speakers, users can seamlessly switch between music, calls, and ambient sound, enhancing situational awareness.

A standout feature is the glasses’ augmented reality (AR) capabilities. Wearers can receive contextual information in real time—such as translating signs or menus, learning about landmarks, or getting recipe suggestions via simple voice commands. Live translation for languages including Spanish, French, Italian, and English is set to launch later this year, even functioning offline with downloaded language packs.

For content creators, the glasses offer a livestreaming function with Instagram and Facebook Live integration, supporting up to 30 minutes of broadcast while switching between glasses and phone cameras. A companion MetaAI app (iOS/Android) allows users to edit and enhance their content.

The collection includes the iconic Wayfarer, Wayfarer Large, and the inclusive Skyler frame, available in various colours and lens options, including prescription, polarised, and Transitions®. Priced from AED 1,330, each pair comes with a portable charging case and receives regular software updates, ensuring the experience evolves over time.
