The UAE’s Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) scheme has witnessed remarkable success since its launch in January 2023, with over nine million workers now enrolled, including around 190,000 Emirati citizens. In its first year alone, 6.8 million workers signed up, many of whom were not legally required to do so. The scheme has provided financial support to more than 17,000 individuals, with total compensation payouts exceeding Dh180 million.

Designed to serve both public and private sector employees, the ILOE scheme acts as a financial safety net during periods of involuntary unemployment. Subscription fees are affordable, ranging between Dh5 and Dh10 per month, ensuring job market stability without adding financial strain on workers.

To boost accessibility, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), in collaboration with an insurance pool, has introduced nine convenient enrollment channels. These include a streamlined digital platform allowing employees to sign up using their Emirates ID, with automatic integration for government workers via the Bayanati system and private-sector employees via MoHRE’s employment contract portal.

The claims process has been optimized, eliminating paperwork. Eligible employees can file claims through the ILOE website, mobile app, or call center, with required data automatically retrieved from MoHRE records.

To further encourage participation, MoHRE launched a large-scale awareness campaign. Over 60 million SMS messages have been sent to workers, supported by field visits, a dedicated helpline (600599555), and automated reminders to ensure continuous coverage.
