Tom Cruise is reportedly set to play a significant role in the Paris 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony. The action-movie star is expected to carry the Olympic flag and skydive onto the iconic Hollywood sign, symbolically marking the transition to the 2028 Los Angeles Games. Cruise is preparing an “epic stunt” for the closing ceremony in Paris, which will see him passing the Olympic flag to Los Angeles for the 2028 Games.

The stunt reportedly involves Cruise rappelling down from the Stade de France and landing on the stadium field carrying the flag. This will lead to the NBC television broadcast cutting to a pre-recorded segment that begins with Cruise and the flag on an airplane from Paris to Los Angeles, culminating in him skydiving down to the landmark Hollywood sign. He will then pass the flag to other Olympic athletes making their way around Los Angeles. While the names of the athletes are not yet available, they are believed to include a cyclist, skateboarder, and volleyball player.

Although Cruise might have to use a stunt double for the rappelling portion, he has been the “driving force” behind this idea and approached the International Olympic Committee himself. Given the incredible stunts that Cruise—who turned 62 on July 3—has insisted on doing himself throughout his career, fans are excited about the possibility of him performing the Olympic stunt personally.

We will find out more of this Olympic-themed stunt during the closing ceremony for the Paris Olympics on August 11.
