UAE equestrian Omar Al Marzooqi has advanced to the final of the individual showjumping event at the Paris Olympics as announced by the UAE National Olympic Committee on X.

At 21 years old, Al Marzooqi was the final UAE rider to compete in the qualifiers on Enjoy de la Mure, finishing in 21st place out of 66 competitors who completed the round. Al Marzooqi, who won silver at last year’s Asian Games in China, completed his round in 79.56 seconds with just one error, securing his place in the final, which kept the UAE’s Olympic dreams alive.
The individual showjumping final is scheduled for Tuesday at 12 pm UAE time.

Sultan Mohammed Al Yahyai, Board Member of the Emirates Equestrian and Racing Federation, Head of the Show Jumping Committee, and President of the Seventh Regional Group in the International Equestrian Federation, highlighted the significance of this achievement.

He stated,” This historic participation represents a milestone in the UAE’s equestrian and show jumping journey, and this unprecedented presence of a UAE team in this Olympic event marks a paradigm shift for the team after the remarkable successes achieved at all levels”.

Additionally, Al Marzooqi was also the flag bearer for the UAE team during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, alongside cyclist Safiya Al Sayegh.
