The UAE has secured the bid to host COSPAR 2028, the world’s largest space research event, which will be held in the Arab world for the first time. The event is expected to attract over 3,000 experts. This announcement marks another significant milestone for the UAE in the space race, following recent news that people will soon be able to travel to the outer limits from Abu Dhabi within a few years.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, shared the news on X, stating, “We are pleased to announce that the UAE has won the bid to host COSPAR 2028, the world’s largest event focused on space research. Set to be held for the first time in the Arab world, the event will bring together more than 3,000 researchers, experts, and scientists to present and discuss groundbreaking scientific research.”

He added, “The UAE has firmly established itself as a key hub for the global scientific community, particularly in the field of space research. This has further enhanced our nation’s role in fostering significant international cooperation in the space sector. We thank the team at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, whose efforts have made this achievement possible.”

The UAE continues to solidify its position as a leading hub for the global scientific community, further highlighted by the recent announcement that Nora Al Matrooshi, the first Emirati woman selected as an astronaut, and her colleague Mohammed Al Mulla have completed their NASA training course. They are now poised to embark on future space missions. This achievement holds great significance as Nora Al Matrooshi is the first Emirati astronaut.
