Dubai Municipality has completed the development of the UAE’s longest mountain trails, featuring 21 cycling routes spanning 53 kilometers and 17 walking trails covering 33 kilometers. The Hatta Mountain Trails also include nine wooden bridges, 14 rest stops, and various service facilities.
The Hatta Mountain Trails are part of Dubai Municipality’s efforts to establish Hatta as a top tourist destination in the region. The trails are divided into four color-coded levels of difficulty: Green trails have four cycling and four walking paths; Blue trails include six cycling and three walking routes; Red trails feature eight cycling and six walking paths; and Black trails offer three cycling and four walking routes.
Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, stated: “Following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Hatta Mountain Trails project aims to enhance the quality of life in Dubai and position it as the world’s most active and healthy city. Our goal is to implement initiatives that serve the Hatta area, making it a premier tourist spot for both residents and visitors.”
Al Hajri added, “The Hatta Mountain Trails, designed to host international events and competitions, adhere to the highest health and safety standards. We have improved public facilities and services to promote tourism in Hatta, aligning with the Municipality’s mission to make Dubai an attractive city that offers the best quality of life for everyone.”
He further explained, “Built using the latest equipment and materials that blend seamlessly with Hatta’s natural landscape, the trails will offer a unique experience for cycling enthusiasts.”
The Hatta Mountain Trails traverse a variety of terrains and landscapes, including rocky paths, mountainous areas, rugged peaks, and valleys, providing stunning panoramic views. This allows outdoor enthusiasts of all skill levels to experience Hatta’s distinctive natural beauty.
