Dubai Municipality Showcases AI’s Role in Future of Workplace Safety

Dubai Municipality marked the World Day for Safety and Health at Work with a forward-looking event themed “Artificial Intelligence Trends in Shaping the Future of Occupational Health and Safety.” Held at Canadian University Dubai on April 28, 2025, the event brought together government officials, tech leaders, and health and safety experts to explore the transformative impact of AI on workplace safety.

H.E. Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality, emphasized the city’s leadership in leveraging AI to create smarter, safer work environments. Dr. Naseem Mohammed Rafie, Acting CEO of the Environment, Health and Safety Agency, highlighted how real-time monitoring through smart sensors and predictive systems is helping Dubai mitigate occupational risks and ensure safer workplaces.

Discussions focused on AI-driven innovations such as smart cameras, automated risk detection, virtual reality training, and robots for air quality monitoring. The event reinforced Dubai Municipality’s commitment to sustainable, technology-driven health and safety systems that align with the UAE’s broader digital transformation goals.

Dubai called on public and private institutions to adopt AI in their safety practices, underscoring the importance of technology in achieving operational excellence, sustainability, and improved quality of life for workers across the emirate.
