Have you caught a glimpse of those buzzing machines in the sky? They’re part of the Dubai Police’s new initiative to enhance their capabilities. These advanced drones, called ‘Drone Box,’ enable quicker access to accident sites and reduce traffic and criminal response times by providing the command centre with vital information.
The drone system supports various security and police operations, including field operations of security and traffic patrols, rescue missions in remote areas, crisis and disaster management, proactive risk detection, traffic monitoring, and data transmission to the command center.
“The ‘Drone Box’ system is equipped with numerous smart platforms across the emirate. These drones are deployed from the platforms upon receiving reports, significantly reducing response times for severe accidents and emergencies,” stated Brigadier Turki bin Faris, Director of the General Department of Operations at Dubai Police, in a press release on Wednesday.
Dubai Police is among the first in the world to implement such an advanced drone system for police work. Brigadier Turki emphasized that the drones seen by the public across the emirate are part of ongoing police operations aimed at enhancing security. He confirmed that these drones help police officers serve the community according to best practices and standards, ensuring privacy while maintaining Dubai’s reputation as one of the world’s safest cities.
By integrating these drones into their operations, Dubai Police is setting a benchmark in utilizing smart technology to improve safety and efficiency.
