The Global Prompt Engineering Championship, recognized as the largest AI prompt competition worldwide, was held from April 22 to April 23 at the Boulevard Emirates Towers during Dubai AI Week 2025. This prestigious event drew over 3,800 participants from more than 125 nations, competing across four creative categories: Coding, Video, Gaming, and Art, each illustrating the innovative ways in which humans engage with AI.
The titleholders of the competition were as follows:
- Coding: Abdulrahman Al Marzooqi (UAE), a Master’s student in Machine Learning at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), devised an AI-driven emergency response assistant that delivers real-time support in various crisis scenarios, including lost documents and medical emergencies.
- Video: Ibrahim Hajjo (Syria), a 20-year-old Senior Filmmaker at Hajjo Media, impressed the judges with AI-generated videos depicting animals in unconventional settings. Despite being new to AI tools, his extensive experience in video editing enabled him to rapidly master the intricacies of prompt engineering.
- Gaming: Ibrahim Helmy (Canada), a Senior Cloud Solutions Architect at Microsoft, merged his technical acumen with his passion for gaming to develop Jumeirah Runner—a side-scrolling beach runner—and The Karak Protocol, a game centered around the quest to brew the perfect cup of karak tea.
- Art: Yahya Kaddoura (Palestine), an Architectural Designer and Associate Principal at Atkins, completed his final design in under 10 minutes—half of the allotted time—due to weeks of focused practice sessions with peers.
The finals were conducted at AREA 2071 in the Emirates Towers. A substantial prize pool of Dh1 million was distributed among the winners, who also benefited from increased exposure to industry leaders and gained international recognition for their expertise in prompt engineering.
